Happy UN-Birthday 39ers SEPTEMBER 2021

It’s Eat, Drink & Read Month for September 39ers!

Happy UN-Birthday SEPTEMBER 39ers! I know, finally! Sorry … thanks for waiting and coming back. It’s “eat, drink, and read” month! Not necessarily in that order … change ‘em up and enjoy!

֎ Celebrating SEPTEMBER 39ers ~ And More!
Let’s start the month with a spoonful of honey for your honey … it’s
National Honey Month and do you know how many dishes there are that feature the thick, golden nectar? Honey needs our support (well, the bees do), so pick a recipe: appetizers to salads, breakfast to beverages … color your world sweet with golden honey.

Is there a honey and mushroom recipe? If not … concoct the first for National Mushroom Month. Um, Boomers, we’re not talkin’ ‘bout your kind of shrooms … we’re hankerin’ for the steak-and-mushroom kind. Yum!

More food and take your choice of beer or coffee!

September 9-12th: Many agree, this hoppy beverage is great to celebrate, and celebrate with, during Craft Brewers Week. However, this sponsor site promotes a beer industry conference. So, guess we industry outsiders will just have to toast a frosty mug to ourselves … works for me.

September 9-12th: What yummy, crunchy snack goes great with beer? Pop … pop … pop! Let’s have a poppin’ good time for Popcorn Days. There’s even a festival and parade for that if you’re able to visit Marion, Ohio. Chomp, chomp, slurp … I’m too far away, but will be there in spirit.

September 10th: What’s for dinner? It’s National TV Dinner Day for those days you just don’t fee like cooking, and nothing cold in the fridge looks inviting. TV dinners have definitely elevated beyond our Retro days in taste and cook time, if not in healthy nutrition. My primary complaint (being a 39er), is even the advertised “wholesome” frozen meals often include way too much salt. So since Retro Planet is sponsoring this fun day with a link to their history of Swanson TV dinners, if there is too much salt in your frozen food, substitute a nostalgic piece of décor!

September 18th: And we’re throwing in something to do while you relax with your favorite food and libation … Read An eBook Day! While the sponsoring link is informative, it isn’t particularly exciting.
Most of us know to hit up Amazon for the latest in eBooks, and while you’re at it, if you’re a genuine Boomer, you’ll appreciate my books there as well. Take a trip down Memory Lane and read true tales of pioneering (1950s & ‘60s so far) Rock & Roll Radio DJs. Rock On with a
Blast from Your Past eBook!

September 29th: Wind up your month with a smooth cuppa java for National Coffee Day! These super sites tell you who has free coffee today and more: Coffee Affection and Sip Coffee House! Want to keep your coffee celebration flowing? International Coffee Day is October 1st.

֎ Monthly Song of Note:
In the height of the Psychedelic Seventies, Chicago’s love song, “Colour My World,” is a dreamy, slow tune, with a mind-tripping intro piano solo, one-verse vocals, and a stunning flute ending. It accompanies this month’s Monthly Wordplay definition for
tintinnabulation. Wow, that’s a mouthful … and an earful!

֎ For 39ers who Follow the Stars

Virgo and Libra are dancing around each other this month. Although Virgo (08/23-09/22) seems to have limitless energy, and mid-month is full of loving surprises—great time for your buds to throw you a party—you may want to slow down toward month’s end and review your goals. Look for fresh ideas.

You a Libra lover? (And they are lovers …) Watch your
Libran (09/23-10/22) 39er climb the ladder of success this month! And Libra, get your swagger on … you’ll be the center of attention wherever you go. The last few days of the month, however, may find you tense. Try not to overthink everything and look for a new direction to set your sails.

If some days set your teeth on edge, September 39ers, hint around for your fave birthstone gift of the
blue sapphire. It’ll soothe your soul while you work on the root cause. Wear it and enjoy it!

֎ Aging with ATT-i-tude Platitude
There is just about nothing that good food, drink and music can’t fix, at any age.
