Happy UN-Birthday 39ers MAY 2018

Make the Most of May, 39ers!

Heading out on the town this month to celebrate your 39 and Holding UN-birthday? That makes you a 39er! No matter how many times you’ve turned 39, in May it’s still a treat to toast the day with your mom. It’s their month, too, birthday or not. Happy Mother’s Day!

If it’s your first 39er UN-birthday, here’s what life was like for mom … 39 years ago this month

39 Years Ago this Month ~ MAY 1979
May 18th: “Disco Duck’s” antics of 1976 still influenced our music, with the Top Ten in major cities touting disco songs. Donna Summer brought on the heat with “Hot Stuff” at #1, KFRC/San Francisco. “Disco Nights” by G.Q. rounded out the top ten, as we boogied our way into summer. “And the music’s tight | on the disco nights …”

May 25th: Little green men? The “Grays? Oh, no, when we met Alien this day in 1979, it was way more creepy and ominous than those cute little guys. It grossed out enough of us that it won the 1979 Academy Award for Visual Effects. Ewwww! "In space, no one can hear you scream."

May 31st: You might recognize the silly comic pup below. He often made us feel human on our worst day (and still does). This day in 1979 was a classic. You know how we dress up for a summer fling, lookin’ oh, so cool … and then stumble, spilling a red fruity drink on the person we were trying to impress? Snoopy always takes his faux pas in stride …

Moms bring May flowers, right? Well, it seems like it, since MAY 39er moms—and the rest of you deliberate and down-to-earth Taurus folks (April 20-May 20)—are multi-faceted with complexity to match. Isn’t that a mom attitude?

But wait, there is more to May 39ers as some of you transform into quick-witted and chatty Gemini go-getters (May 21-June 20). Think fast around your favorite Gemini. Their twin-sign is energetic and versatile, and before you know it, you’re left behind on the way to Mothers’ Day brunch!

Looking for gifts this month?  In the world of flowers, the May lily stands lovely and delicate, as it implies harmony and humility. Or the month’s emerald gemstone is a fine, deep green choice to match the sparkling May personality.

Happy UN-Birthday July 39ers

July 39ers Celebrate the Red-White-and-Blue!
Isn’t it cool that everybody celebrates your birth month, July 39ers?! Well, ok, many are partying for Independence Day—and then we’ll party on ‘til Labor Day—but hey, your “liberated youth” is worth a toast too!

So CHEERS to your UN-birthday 39ers, as we go red-white-and-blue for the rest of the summer.

39 Years Ago this Month ~ July 1978
Yep, the picture disc is in my collection.
21st Peter Frampton may have experienced second thoughts about starring in a Beatles-related music film without The Beatles; even though the venerable Bee Gees provided the soundtrack. Sgt.Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band debuted to vicious reviews and low box office sales. Nevertheless, it’s fondly remembered thirty-nine years later, along with the original Beatles album of the same name, celebrating its 50th year (1967).

25th – We celebrated the birth of our nation at the beginning of the month, and just a few weeks later, scientists celebrated the birth of Louise Brown, the world’s first test tube baby (IVF). Welcome, Louise, to the 39 and Holding Club!

What other summer hot stuff was goin’ on? Throughout July 1978 we spent our sunburned evenings enjoying the boob tube’s MASH, One Day At A Time, Little House on the Prairie, and Laverne and Shirley. Back in the day … as today … we watched shows with ATT-i-tude!

July’s gemstone via the American Gem Society is celebrated as the royal Ruby, but … “In 1912, in an effort to standardize birthstones, the (American) National Association of Jewelers met in Kansas and officially adopted a list.” (Wiki)

The Ruby, specified by modern calendar methods, is said to guarantee health, wisdom, wealth, and success in love. Ancient astrologers, however, proclaimed Cancer (June 21-July 22) should enjoy the qualities of the majestic emerald, while Leo (July 23-Aug 22), rules with the mysterious onyx.

Based on all the info, I’m for wearing, buying, enjoying, whatever floats your boat!
