Happy UN-Birthday 39ers JANUARY 2020

Every Month this Year Celebrates 39ers Born in 1981 & Earlier!

OMG! 39 and Holding Club welcomes a whole NEW batch of 39ers beginning with the New Year … and ultimately, the New Decade!

If you were born in January 1981 or later, you are or will officially become, a 39er. Welcome to the most inane, elite club on Earth!

As the year unfolds, come on back and see how we celebrate your “special” UN-birthday month, with trivia, tips for youthful living, and sage words for those who know that Age is just a number … LIFE is att-i-tude!

Along with Your UN-Birthday ~ Happy JANUARY Celebrations
It’s National Soup Month! Is it any wonder? On a cold, weatherly night it’s wonderful to just curl up with a hot bowl of soup, crunchy crackers, and a good book … and the kids in front of the TV. That’s
providing you can get the kids excited about their soup, rather than running around the house with all their shiny, new, noisy toys!
Some of us, however, have weathered those many New Years of life, and bask in the glow of our faux Golden Years. Yeah, in case you’re wondering, there is no such thing. But there is a certain peace to maturity that allows New Years … and in this case, New Decades … to bring a smile of memories for those past, and heightened pleasure to enjoy a softer new beginning.
So, 39ers, enjoy your lip-smacking good soup, your mind full of memories, and may I suggest a good book? (My New Year’s Resolution is to market my books better … heehee.)

January 7th: Old Rock Day ~ Hmmmm, ok 39ers, I know what you’re thinking. While we love Oldies Rock & Roll, this day truly is about old rocks! If you don’t think this is an interesting day to celebrate, consider Earth Magazine’s reason for creating it. “Throughout human history, rocks have been important to us and we have found many uses for them: as tools, musical instruments, weapons, adornments, building materials, and as sources of fuel and crucial elements.” We all use and/or enjoy one or even all, of these rock-related reasons to celebrate our geologic sciences.

January 20th: National Disc Jockey Day ~ NOW we’ll get into Oldies “Rock” music! … which precedes Wolfman Jack’s birthday on the 21st! He was obviously destined to change the airwaves. Big-bro-site Blast from Your Past celebrates Wolfman because my book series is dedicated to him; however, another earlier iconic DJ actually coined “Rock ‘n’ Roll”: Alan Freed.
This day is often confused with and used to celebrate turntable djs. Not that they aren’t hard workers and deserve praise, too, but the day was originally created to honor the pioneering radio disc jockeys who “jockeyed the discs” (vinyl records), for our listening pleasure, oh so many years ago … and those who “push the buttons” today. Give your fave #RadioDJ a virtual hug and enjoy the music!

January 24th:
Belly Laugh Day ~ these people are simply too much fun to ignore. On the 24th at 1:24p (your local time), they urge you to throw your arms up in the air and LAUGH!! Even the venerable Mayo Clinic says it’s good for us, “Laughter is a great form of stress relief, and that's no joke.”
If you read this before the 24th, share your love and laughter with your friends on and offline with hashtag #BellyLaughDay. Make yourself a phone alert … and remember to laugh! What could be more fun?

For 39ers who Follow the Stars
After a busy and jumbled Holiday Season, January is a business-oriented month for many, and the strategically minded Capricorn (12/22/18-01/19/19) is no slouch in business. Don’t be surprised if you see them busily listing their financial goals for the year. Caps are of the few who will actually attain them! Not known for their flexibility, try to help your early January 39er friends to be more flexible. They may not admit it, but they need you.
The latter part of January caters to the quirky, free-spirited Aquarians (01/20-02/18). As Tarot.com explains, “When this rebellious sign isn’t satisfied with the way things are, they’re experts at garnering the support they need to instigate change.” Do you know an active Aquarian? They’re never lacking for witty and entertaining conversation, but their real talent is in caring for community and mankind. Look out, they’ll change your perspective without breaking a sweat!

Happy UN-Birthday 39ers DECEMBER 2019

Family, Christmas Birds and … BINGO! … It’s the Holidays!

It’s no secret. Some of you 39ers have been playing
Bingo since childhood, and never stopped! Long past the kiddie game and fundraising stage, it has grown into a bona fide gambling institution. That’s okay … if ya win. If ya don’t … well … that’s why it’s called “gambling”! But somebody is going to win. May as well be you, right?

Do you know Bingo has been around in some form or other since the 1500s? True story. Or so Wiki says. However, it wasn’t until December 1929 that toy merchandiser, Edwin Lowe, spotted the game at a traveling carnival and the rest is proverbial history.

Besides Bingo, DECEMBER 39ers, what other birthday party games do you have up your sleeve? Read on for a new one, and more reasons to celebrate …

Along with Your UN-Birthday ~ Happy DECEMBER Celebrations
December 14th: Christmas Bird Count Week starts December 14 and continues through January 5, 2020!  Link … Yes, seriously! “Beginning on Christmas Day 1900, ornithologist Frank M. Chapman, an early officer in the then-nascent Audubon Society, proposed a new holiday tradition—a ‘Christmas Bird Census’ that would count birds during the holidays rather than hunt them.”
And you can join in! Wouldn’t this be a fun event for the whole family?!

December 23rd: Family Roots Day – Speaking of family bird counting, while you’re at it, use the
time to interview family members for posterity! The Holidays is a perfect time to urge your family to record memories of childhood and each other. Designate an interviewer and push the record button; or make a game of it – urge everyone to write out a favorite Holiday memory, put them in a bowl, and draw out, one-by-one. Everyone guesses whose memory it is, and the one with the most right guesses, wins!
Don’t forget to gather those memories together for later documenting in a family Living Legacy. Another day, you’ll be glad you did.

December 26th: National Candy Cane Day – Well shoot, we had to have something here about sweets! The day after Christmas, you may be starting your un-decorating … what else to do with those adorable striped candy canes – but eat them!?

For 39ers who Follow the Stars
Is it any wonder the Archer leads us into December, with an eye on the New Year? Sagittarian 39ers (11/22-12/21) are habitually upbeat and always seeking new experiences, like a good party. You may see more than one vivacious Sagittarian strutting into the festivities this season, empowered in purple and with a hint of gold, of course.

Then, in strolls destination-minded Capricorn (12/22-01/19). That is, if you’re able to pry them away from business. They may love a good party, but work is their true paramour. We need the Earthy Caps to guide us solidly into the new year and decade, with conservative determination. Don’t be surprised if their New Year’s resolutions are already written down and prioritized!

January 1, 2020
is not only the beginning of a bright New Year, but offers the promise of a fresh New Decade. Make 2020 your year of golden goals in spirit and deed.

It’s easy to say, oh, it’s just another Christmas. Remember, it’s a celebration of birth. New beginnings are always worth celebrating. ~ L. Rochelle
