Happy UN-Birthday 39ers NOVEMBER 2019

Many Thanks for Pets, Peanut Butter & Jukeboxes!

In addition to National Gratitude Month—after all, Thanksgiving is November’s premiere holiday—there are many other ways to give thanks and celebrate your life. C’mon along 39ers!

Along with Your UN-Birthday ~ Happy NOVEMBER Celebrations
It isn’t all about Thanksgiving, you know. Well … maybe it is. But still, turkey isn’t the only celebrated food in November. Last one to the table buys the wine …

<>It’s National Peanut Butter Lovers Month! With any luck, someone in your potluck feasts this month will bake a batch or two of Holiday Peanut Butter cookies. My favorite! And yet, I didn’t know …
Peanut butter was originally made for people with no teeth. Although I knew of one, I also didn’t know …Two peanut farmers have been elected president of the USA – Virginia's Thomas Jefferson and Georgia's Jimmy Carter.
In a high-pressure environment, peanut butter can be turned into diamonds. How cool is that?! NOW they have my attention!

<>Looking for love in all the wrong places? Celebrate Adopt A Senior Pet Month and revel in unconditional love! Humans aren’t the only 39ers—older pets tend to be less appreciated, so show your love and count your best playful years together.

<>And a designation near and dear to my ol’ heart: Family Stories Month*! Have you thought about it? Leaving your legacy, I mean. Since we don't have a crystal ball that tells us when we'll ... well, you know ... leaving your legacy at any age is important. Do it now.
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to reminisce and listen for stories you may not have heard before; give your family and friends your full focus. Maybe even set a recorder or camera to cover your golden turkey day (or tofu, or other scrumptious meal) for posterity—and your Book of Family Stories.

Usually I also list a couple of fun day-events to celebrate too but have decided from this month forward to give only one special day a mention. Month-long celebrations feel more appropriate. So what’s on tap for November 2019? Get your dancing shoes on and let’s par-TAY!

November 27th:
There’s nothing like, Singing, I love rock and roll | So put another dime in the jukebox, baby ♪ (**Joan Jett & the Blackhearts, 1982) because it’s National Jukebox Day! Give a nod to TouchTunes, which established this fun national day; but I did not include their site here, as it is not a secure link. (**See my policies, below.) However, RePlay Magazine has a 2016 article that tells you all about it, and it’s just tooooooo much of a fun day not to list it for your enjoyment.
While the jukebox is glorified in Rock & Roll, it hit the “juke joints” long before the 1950s when popular music began to Rock. Now an iconic piece of musical history, the once ubiquitous mechanical bar band is fondly remembered in more than one song. **Joe Diffie made it clear, ♪ Fill my boots up with sand, put a stiff drink in my hand | Prop me up beside the jukebox if I die ♪ (1993)

Do you have any secrets? Of course, we all do. If you count an inquisitive Scorpio (10/23-11/21) as your friend, you won’t have them for long! Scorpios make great investigators and researchers, as they delve into the depths of anything that catches their attention. Including you! However, their integrity won’t let them tell unless you OK it.
No worries with a lively Sagittarian (11/22-12/21), as they’re too busy to dive below the surface, preferring to plan your next 39er party or extreme adventure outing. Make no mistake though, they aren’t frivolous. Sagittarians are focused as they take aim and home in on the horizon. Ambitious and driven also describes the often very successful Sagittarian. Count yourself fortunate to be in their inner circle.

* If a holiday link on Brownielocks.com is more than two years old, I rarely use it, and seek something more contemporary or updated; in this case, it is my PenchantForPenning.com “Legacy” link.
** For yours (and my) online security I am following a relatively new policy of not listing links to sites without a secure connection, as indicated in the browser address bar. Sadly, this includes many prominent celebrity and supposedly respectable sites.

Happy UN-Birthday 39ers December 2018

‘Tis the Season to be Jolly!

Here it is, another year end and as usual, 39ers, we’re left scratching our heads, wondering how the other eleven months managed to slip by so quickly.

For some, December brings another UN-birthday that often takes back stage to all the Holiday parties and hoopla. So birthday 39ers, it’s time for you to grab your limelight and deck the halls. Tip: Create a birthday/holiday combo event. Put the party focus on the birthday guy or gal, as the celebrated Elf guest of honor!

39er Fitness and Fun
There are two kinds of people during the Holidays. Yup. Just two. Those who vow not to partake of the volumes of yummy goodies, trying desperately to wear blinders and declare December diet month, and those who don’t give a damn, plying everyone within arm’s length with Irish Cream brownies, rum cake, and a mountain of whip cream on homemade apple pie. Sigh.

What can you do if you edge off the healthy vittles for an Eggnog Mousse Snowman? Exercise! Even a ten-minute walk a couple times a day will help melt away those decadent dessert drink pounds. On your return, make notes for a healthy 2019 nutrition regimen.

Before we look to the January diet jump-starters, let’s wallow in the warm aroma of oven-fresh sugar cookies and remember …

39 Years Ago this Month ~ DECEMBER 1979
Grease hit it big in June 1978 and still dominated the retail Holiday gift-giving more than a year later. But the first week of December 1979, another movie blasted Grease off the grid into outer space …
December 7th: The USS Enterprise (NCC-1701) truly began its journey to explore where no man (or woman) had gone before. It ventured out from a little boob tube into a vast world premiere of Star Trek: The Motion Picture where it certainly outlived its five-year mission.
After ten years (the television show ended in 1969), we watched the same small-screen cast come to life in the theaters. Familiar, yes, but the movie added outer dimensions and great new catch-phrases, like “Beam us up, Scotty.” By the way, would you want your bodily DNA whisked through space by a fellow who asks, “When are ya gonna get off of that milk diet Laddy? Now Scotch is a real drink for a man.” Heehee.

For 39ers who Follow the Stars
Infamous for spotting opportunities and eternally seeking new ideas, Sagittarian 39ers (11/22-12/21) are the perfect lead-in to the last month of the year. Their adventurous and vivacious personality will guide you through the best parties and festivities of the season. The hard part for the rest of us, is getting them to slow down long enough to enjoy it.

The second half of the month, destination-minded Capricorn (12/22-01/19) takes 2018’s leftover goals and Sag’s flashy new concepts, to fashion a great new 2019 beginning—the perfect team! Caps need you, however, to remind them to lighten up once in a while and appreciate the fruits of their labors.

December’s turquoise gemstone is a symbol of good fortune and success, polished bright for your New Year.

The New Year promises to be … exactly what we make of it. Want to be sad and miserable? There is certainly enough wretchedness around us to help promote your gloom. Choose to be happy and nurturing for yourself and others? Yes … it’s a choice. There is also much in this world to encourage your joy, year-round. Make 2019 your year of cheerfulness and content.

When you’re 39 and Holdingagain … it’s another opportunity for a new beginning. Don’t start over. Just take a deep breath and start again.

Great cheese and wine need aging, but 39ers know Age is Just a Number … LIFE is ATT-i-tude!TM

Happy UN-Birthday DECEMBER 39ers,
