Wow—can’t believe I’m so late with the 39 and Holding Club December article. Dang. Life is just in my way and this blog is the one that suffers. I’m trying. But sadly, I can’t say it won’t happen again.
What you see below is the best I could do to end the year. It’s “finished,” though I did not expound on some items, as usual. and I missed the celebratory date for one. But there is plenty of fun to still pique your interest. Here ya go … Happy UN-Birthday December 39ers … and many more … ♪

And More!
Spiritual Literacy Month: Though there is no link dedicated to Spiritual Literacy
Month, this one takes you to an article on a calendar site, with basic
information about how it came to be, and more. It will help you define
“spiritual literacy”; take it from there—and enjoy your own spiritual journey
this month!
December 8th: Since there is no official link, we designate Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day an official special day for our Big Bro site, Blast from Your Past. BFYP travels through time the first of every month. So, if you’re hankering for a nostalgic music and radio journey back to 50 Years Ago this Month, become a Time Traveler to BFYP anytime—we hope you have a real blast!
December 14th: Monkey see, monkey do, it’s Monkey Day! No lie … it even has a Wiki page celebrating the day and the interesting artists who originally created it to honor the monkeys sent into space for experimental stellar exploration. Ham, the first great ape to make a sub-orbital flight in 1961, returned to Earth and lived to a solid old age of 26.
December 24th: Happy Egg Nog Day! Well duh, what else would be a happy addition to Christmas Eve? Gather ‘round your Christmas Tree or festive room, be it virtual or physical, and raise a toast of this yummy libation (with multiple recipes, new and old) to whatever it is you love celebrating on this day … even if it’s simply a fun day in the week before New Year’s.I owned a Howdy lunchbox million years ago! |
Howdy began delighting young’uns on an equally young “boob tube” on this date in 1947 (lasting until 1960)! Though sadly, there’s no official link for the pioneering kids show, I found a site that runs a quirky daily event calendar with a blog article about Howdy Doody Day. Do you know Howdy has 48 adorable freckles—one for each State of the Union? Of course, that distinction only lasted until Alaska joined us in 1959. 😊 (Image: 1954 Howdy lunchbox)

December 31st: We made it—happy New Year’s Eve! Especially these past two years, we ALL want to celebrate the end of 2021 with gusto and look brightly toward a better New Year. For 39ers—and literally everyone around the globe—each New Year has become ever more precious. Let’s celebrate not only the turning of the calendar, but if you’re reading this, appreciate with all your heart, the fact that you can. Happy New Year’s Eve, 39ers, wherever you are, and let’s give 2022 all the love and support possible for a happy, prosperous New Year!
♪ December Vintage Song of Note: This is where we like to Pretend to be a Time Traveler every month, with a memory from the top hit tunes of 1971, 50 Years Ago this Month! “I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing” (In Perfect Harmony) by The Hillside Singers began as an advertising jingle for Coca Cola. Once upon a time, advertisers created new ditties to hawk their wares. Now, the trend is to use old tunes to tug on our nostalgia strings. This song with its charitable sentiment, debuted at #36 on WCFL/Chicago’s top hit tunes for Dec 23, 1971, just in time for Christmas and New Year’s. And still comes up often during the Holidays.♪ I'd like to teach the world to sing | In perfect harmony | I'd like to hold it in my arms | And keep it company …♪ ֎ For 39ers who Follow the Stars …
Do you have a Sagittarian 39er (11/22-12/21) in your life? These 39ers are especially suited for the Holiday Season party planning—and enjoying. Their Zodiac icon may be an Archer, but they flit from guest-to-guest like the social butterfly they really are. That doesn’t mean you Sags are happy all the time or that you always make your closest friends/family happy. Sagittarian bluntness can be brutal—not intentionally, but in the spirit of honest sharing—just before they flash that electric smile at you again.
This month, my dear Sagittarius 39ers, you’re all about family, love, lifestyle, and starting anew or enhancing your life in a big way. By the end of the year, you’ll be patiently waiting to brighten the New Year with big plans, and join everyone for a new beginning!
This
brings us to Capricorn
39ers (12/22-01/19) who guide us toward year’s end and a bright 2022, with
focused determination. That’s also why you may see your Capricorn friend frown
so much. It isn’t intentional. They may even be inwardly happy! It’s just a
sign of their dedication to the needs of others. Gently try to remind them to
smile.
For Capricorn 39ers,
December 2021 is a reminder to listen to the needs of your body and whatever
you do, take care of yourself. It’s a must, before you can properly do for
others.
For all of us, when the dust clears, leaving sparkly remnants of Christmas and special Holidays behind, we have a week to gather our thoughts and resolve—what DO we want our lives in 2022 to look like? It’s up to you. Happy New Year! Cheers!
